Trefoil: Canyons and Climbs Trip

This camp program is for girls entering grades 6-12 in the Fall of 2019

Experience the spectacular natural landscape of New York State as you explore the Northeast region of the Adirondack Park with our experienced trip staff. We will start our adventure with an easy climb to the top of the Cathedral Rock Fire Tower. Then we will continue on to Paul Smith’s Visitor Interpretive Center, where we will explore the trails through the natural marsh and forest habitats. The day will conclude with a visit to the Butterfly House to view and learn about native butterflies. Day two takes us to the gorgeous Ausable Chasm, the oldest natural attraction in the United States. We will spend the day hiking through the many trails of the chasm, deemed the ‘Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks’, while taking in the natural formations and natural stone walkways around us. We will then learn about the geology and history of the area from an experienced guide while floating on a raft through the chasm. The night will end with a guided lantern tour along the river, a campfire, and s’mores. Our final day of our adventure will lead us to the High Falls Gorge, where we will explore the bridges and walkways alongside the Ausable River and take in the spectacular views of the gorge and waterfalls. Our final stop will be at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge before making our way back to camp. The trip will spend 3 days and 2 nights at a local campground in Wilmington. The rest of the week will be spent at Trefoil, where campers will be able to participate in classic camp activities.
